CORONADO, Calif. (Jan. 7, 2008) Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates pins a bronze star on the uniform of a Sailor attached to an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EOD) during an award ceremony at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado. Hooded Civil Guard agents participate on a police search on the area where they located a cache of Basque terrorist group ETA, in Lesaka, Navarra region of Spain, 08 January 2008. It is the second cache found in the last two days. Spanish authorities on 07 January found a Basque terrorist group ETA cache in a pine grove close to Sabinanigo village, Huesca with 125 kilos equipment to make explosive devices, detonators and timers. Both caches have been found after the arrest of two alleged ETA members in Mondragon village,Basque Country, northern Spain on 06 January.
PERSIAN GULF (Jan. 6, 2008) Small craft suspected to be from the Islamic Republic of Iran Revolutionary Guard Navy (IRGCN), maneuver aggressively in close proximity of the U.S. Navy Aegis-class cruiser USS Port Royal (CG 73), Aegis-class destroyer USS Hopper (DDG 70) and frigate USS Ingraham (FFG 61). All three ships were steaming in formation and had just completed a routine Strait of Hormuz transit. Coalition vessels, including U.S. Navy ships, routinely operate in the vicinity of both Islamic Republic of Iran Navy and IRGCN vessels and aircraft, without incident. U.S. Navy photo (Released)
